Osteria La Buca Westlake
Designing Buca West
The newest location of Osteria La Buca sits in an upscale suburban shopping mall surrounded by the green-gold hills of the Santa Monica Mountains. Our design intent was to create a refuge from the burbs, a place that evokes the calm, cool, dappled feel of a canopied forest.
We used our Peek Family in Burnished Brass throughout the space, imagining the brass to be like color-rich touches of lichen. Peek Cans align over a cherry wood bar with a satisfying Chicago rail. Peek Sconces punctuate each booth and banquette.
The wine room offers some drama with cascading Float Pendant Clusters and Peek Cans that light up the restaurant’s impressive collection of bottles.
Rich cherry and douglas fir complement deep green tile. Ceilings are left dark to bring intimacy to the space. Warm peach walls and amber mirrors introduce light and depth. We didn’t want a bad seat in the house, so deep booths and banquettes line the walls, separated by brass and cotton curtained dividers.
