Little more than a wooden block with a nail in it, Brendan's Bottle Opener for Areaware utilizes one magnet to store the opener conveniently on the fridge and another to catch the pried loose bottle cap. A study in wear and use, the bottle opener seeks to express a simplicity of form with a maximum understanding of function. Originally produced by Brendan while he was a graduate student at the Rhode Island School of Design, the opener was to designed to develop a rich patina with use and time, like a pair of blue jeans or a cast iron pan. The bottle opener was licensed by Areaware in 2009 and was in production for nearly 15 years.
